Spain Win First Major Title in 44 Years

Dramatic Victory in Vienna

Spain narrowly defeated Germany 1-0 in a thrilling encounter in Vienna on Sunday night to claim their first major title in 44 years.

Fernando Torres struck the only goal of the game midway through the second half to secure Spain's first European Championship triumph since 1964.

The victory was a fitting reward for Spain's dominant performance throughout the tournament, as they controlled possession and created numerous scoring opportunities.

Germany had their chances, but they were ultimately unable to break down a resolute Spanish defense inspired by the outstanding Iker Casillas.

The victory is a historic achievement for Spain, who have now added the European Championship to their World Cup title won in 2010.

It is also a fitting tribute to the legacy of Luis Aragones, who guided Spain to their World Cup triumph and laid the foundations for their current success.
