Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program: Closed
Arizona Closes Section 8 Program for Project-Based Properties
Breaking News
The Arizona Public Housing Authority (APHA) has closed the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program for Project-Based Section 8 properties located in the City of Phoenix. The closure is part of a broader effort by the APHA to transition to a performance-based contract administration system for Project-Based Section 8 properties.
The APHA is the Contract Administrator for the State of Arizona for a portfolio of Project-Based Section 8 properties. Under the new performance-based contract administration system, the APHA will be responsible for monitoring the performance of Project-Based Section 8 properties and ensuring that they are meeting the needs of tenants.
The Applicant Portal registration and pre-application status will be available approximately 24 hours after your pre-application submission. In most cases Section 8 applications are available online in person by mail or a variety of these options.
The state of Arizona has an allotment of 70,000 Section 8 vouchers. As of today, there are approximately 43,000 households on the Section 8 waiting list.
